My Sisters Famous BBQ Beans
12 oz
sliced bacon, cut crosswise in small pieces
1 30 oz can
pinto beans, drained
1 15 oz can
black bean, drained
1 15 oz can
kidney beans, drained
1 green
bell pepper, diced
1 yellow
onion, diced
6 cloves of
garlic, minced
1 teaspoon
fresh minced ginger
1/3 cup
brown sugar (more or less depending on personal taste and BBQ sauce)
1 can amber
beer
1/2
teaspoon dried mustard
1-2 cups
prepared BBQ sauce of your choice (tomato based)
Render
bacon in a deep pan large enough to accommodate all ingredients,
when just crispy add onion, bell pepper, ginger, garlic, and dried
mustard, sauté until soft then add beans, BBQ sauce and beer. Add
brown sugar to taste. Simmer for about an hour, and then adjust
seasonings.
